Location
I took this picture in northern Finland, at the lake Jerisjärvi.Time
It was about 22:00 in the evening as the clouds disappeared after a rainy day.Lighting
It was a very dark night without any moonlight, so the exposure time I used was between 8 and 20 seconds dependent of the strength of aurora.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D MK III, Zeiss Distagon 21mm f/2.8, Manfrotto Tripod 155 XPROBInspiration
I´m going to chase the northern lights for several years and I hoped to get them again on this beautiful place. Two days before we arrived, a CME (coronal mass ejection) was underway and arrived at the right time.Editing
Yes, I used Adobe Lightroom for denoising, sometimes the filter dfine which works also good.In my camera bag
Oh that´s often to much. There is a Canon 5D MK III and a second body, a Canon 6D. For having an aurora shooting, I have some lenses with me which must work in low light: Canon 14mm f/2.8, Sigma 20mm f/1.4, Canon 24-70 f/2.8, sometimes a Sigma 35mm f/1.4, two Manfrotto tripods, lots of memory cards and battery packs.Feedback
You need warm clothes, I use normally a floating overall, patience, a good weather forecast and often a view to www.spaceweather.com
