Location
I took this photo at Canoe Creek State Park in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania in the very early morning hours after it had rained for what felt like days. I was convinced that the fog was never going to open up, so I might as well head home. As I was walking back to my car, I saw the most beautiful spider web blowing in the wind! Much to my surprise, it was still covered with rain, and mostly in tact. I immediately dropped my things to get the shot, terrified that the wind was going to blow it all away!Time
It was just after daybreak, right before the sun is supposed to rise, when everything is still dreamy dark and blue.Lighting
I woke up around 4 a.m. that morning to arrive before the sun would rise and burn the fog up on the lake, which fortunately for this image, never happened.Equipment
I used a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L.Inspiration
I set out that morning to obtain some cool fog-rising shots, but when it never opened up, I decided it was time to go home. Discouraged, walking back to my car, the spider web caught the corner of my eye and the rest is history!Editing
I worked with the exposure briefly in Lightroom and processed the image B&W.In my camera bag
I always have my Canon 5D Mark III, but lately, the ONLY lens I have been using is my 5mm f/1.4L II. It's been forcing me to move, think, and open myself up to "happy accidents" more often. I'm enamored with it.Feedback
Wake up early!! Wander around outside before everything wakes. Never stop looking and creeping under, around, over, beneath and on top of the universe - I'm always surprised at what I can find if I dig around!
