Location
This photo was taken in Richmond Park in London. It was our first visit and we didn't know much about the park. We weren't expecting to see a deer in the middle of London and I was quite surprised when this one popped it's head above the bracken. Five minutes later we realised that Richmond Park is full of deer - there were herds of them!Time
The metadata tells me it was mid-afternoon.Lighting
I seem to remember it was a cloudy dayEquipment
I hadn't long been using DSLR cameras and had a Nikon 3100 with 55-200mm lens at 200mm F6.3, ISO 400 1/800 sec. Hand held shot in RAWInspiration
I had heard something rustling about in the bracken and hoped to get a glimpse of what was making the noise. Suddenly, up he popped and I was lucky enough to capture the shot.Editing
At the time I only had the Nikon ViewNX software for photo processing so that was all that was used - sharpening, crop white balance etc.In my camera bag
I have now upgraded to a second hand Nikon 610 (looking to go one better soon!). I have an old Nikkor 28-80mm lens (which definitely needs replacing) plus two Sigma lenses; 70-300mm and 150-600mm as I'd like to take more wildlife photography.Feedback
