I took this photo on the bluff overlooking Baker Beach and the majestic Golden Gate Bridge at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco, California. Baker Beach is a popular beach for sun bathing, fishing, dog walking, and playing in the sand. The far end of the beach is the original site where the infamous Burning Man Festival began.Time
I stopped to check the surf at a hidden spot close to here and when I arrived I was greeted with this beautiful sight. It was early afternoon and we had scattered showers throughout the region that day. Rainbows were popping up all over and I was lucky enough to capture this one in my photo.Lighting
The fog comes and goes so quickly with the heavy wind that blows through the "gate" I knew I only had a few moments before the conditions changed and I would lose the shot. Within a few seconds of me capturing this photo the rainbow was gone.Equipment
I wish I could say I was quick enough on the draw to use my Canon, but the closest camera to me at the time was my iPhone 6. #shotoniphone #shotoniphone6Inspiration
Well, you really can't get a bigger pot o' gold bigger than this!Editing
The only post processing I needed to do on this one was to adjust the light balance a bit due to some dark clouds overhead. The rest was the right conditions coming together at the right time.In my camera bag
My everyday camera is a Canon 60D with a Canon EFS 18-135mm lens. For the far away shots I also keep a 100-300mm in my bag and a 0.45 Wide Angle / Macro lens to play with here and there.Feedback
It's all about timing and always being ready to take the next shot. I try to have my camera close to me whenever I can so that I will be ready to capture sights like the one above.
