Behind The Lens

Location

I took the photo at the King's Park Swimming Pool in Durban. The diver was using the 3m board and I was on the 8m platform shooting down with the sun behind me.

Time

15H24.

Lighting

The light was reasonably harsh and quite high behind the camera. Shooting down this did not matter as much as it would have on pool side.

Equipment

Canon 7D, Canon EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, hand held a monopod or tripod would not work for this action.

Inspiration

I love sport photography and water sports are a favourite. Just trying to get the best image I could.

Editing

No just a touch of sharpening and a tighter crop.

In my camera bag

It depends on the assignment. Canon 7d II, Canon 7D, 100-400, 70-200 2.8, 24-105 II, Speedlite 430, 50 1.8, 10-22. All Canon.

Feedback

Diving I have found is not easy. It all happens very fast. It is not the descent speed but the rotational speed that is fast. So push up the shutter speed and have a steady hand. This was shot at shot at 1/2000 sec at f/6.3 and ISO 200.
