Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken at the Nizhnetulomsky reservoir.

Time

20.11.2013 23:33:27.

Lighting

The sky was starry.

Equipment

NIKON D800, lens Samyang 2,8/14 mm + tripod.

Inspiration

I went skiing to my favorite pine tree many times. I really wanted to take a picture of a pine tree, as the hero of my photo, with Aurora in the background. But this time there was no glow. Only the moon and light clouds in the sky. When the moon hid behind the clouds, I saw a white circle around the moon. I had never shot a moon halo before, so I was very surprised at this natural phenomenon. I changed the shot point and did a few takes with the moon halo. It was clearly visible with the eyes, and the picture turned out great!

Editing

I changed the white balance a bit to remove the yellow tint from the moonlight.

In my camera bag

Now NIKON D850, lens Samyang 2,8/12 mm + Nikkor 4/24-120 mm.

Feedback

1. Desires. 2. Patience. 3. Good luck!
