I captured this image while snowshoeing in the Paradise area of Mt. Rainier National Park.Time
This image was taken mid-day - it was on part of a loop I did while snowshoeing.Lighting
Although you can't see it, the skies were blue on this day - with intermittent clouds.Equipment
This was a handheld image where I used a 70-200mm lens on my Canon 5D Mark II - focal length = 105mm; f/16; 1/125 sec; ISO 200.Inspiration
I loved the lines and snow patterns here. The snowshoers were in the perfect spot in the frame and showed a sense of scale. Minimalistic beauty, I thought.Editing
Slight adjustments in Photoshop. In my camera bag
Almost always I carry a tripod. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II - my camera bag includes filters (polarizers, neutral density) and various lenses - Canon 24-70, 24-105mm, 70-200mm and a macro. My newest addition is the 16-35mm f/2.8. I love macros and often find myself focusing on details in landscapes.Feedback
This image wasn't planned - it happened when I stopped to admire the beauty, observe lines and colors, and look for composition possibilities. If you see something with potential - be it light, a promising subject that appears in just the right spot, etc. - wait a while and see if it transpires. I waited for these snowshoers to get in the right area of the frame before I took the photo.
