Held every December at the University of Virginia is the annual "Lighting of the Lawn" ceremony. The Rotunda and the Academical (yes, that's a word) Village is beautifully lit for the holidays. The event was first held in 2001 as a way for the university and Charlottesville community to come together and heal following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
