Behind The Lens

Location

This photo of my soon-to-be grandchildren was taken when we arrived at the Chapel for my daughter's wedding in Gatlinburg, TN.

Time

The wedding was at 6PM in the evening. The chapel was surrounded by mountains so we were hoping to have enough soft, natural light for photos outside after the wedding.

Lighting

This picture was actually a random shot of the kids taken without a flash or any special lighting.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon EOS Rebel T3. No flash or tripod.

Inspiration

I thought the neutral colors the kids were wearing made a great balance with the rich color of the wooden chapel and fall colored wreaths.

Editing

No special processing was involved with the exception of adding a little depth to the shadows.

In my camera bag

I never leave home without my Canon 18-55mm, wide angle, Canon 55-250mm and Canon 75-300mm lenses; wireless shutter set-up, filters, extra cards and batteries. I have a bag packed out with my tripod, monopod and bendable mini tripod.

Feedback

Have a lot of patience and always be looking for that special moment. Especially with children. When they don't know they're being watched, you usually get the best results.
