As I hopped off of the SS Noorderlicht that morning after a number of days sailing around the high Arctic archipelago of Svalbard, I was unaware of how completely blown away one could be by the natural elements that carve this planet. It was overwhelmingly beautiful, truly breathtaking and mysterious, and as I looked around me and began to explore the silent landscape with my camera, it dawned on me that this was a place that truly brought all previous concepts of 'wilderness, isolation and natural beauty' into a new light. It was a magical and humbling experience that I will be profoundly affected by for the rest of my life. As a photographer this photo is one of my all time favourites and I am delighted to share it with you all.
