Location
This was taken at Port Willunga, South Australia and features the old jetty ruins at sunsetTime
Taken at sunset in September (which is spring in South Australia)Lighting
Only natural lighting was used, but the image was tweaked in Photoshop to bring out it's best features.Equipment
Nikon D7100, with a kit lens from my old camera 18-55mm, no flash, a tripod was used and probably a remote trigger.Inspiration
Port Willunga is an inspiration in itself, and a spot I like to visit regularly. It always has a different face, different colours, different tides, different weather and sky decoration and boasts the title of one of the most photographed spots in South Australia.Editing
Essentially all of my editing was done in Camera Raw mode of Photoshop which entailed tweaking of colour and sharpness etc. the only thing I did outside of Camera Raw was the removal of moisture blobs, minor imperfections and dust. I use Photoshop only because that is what I'm familiar with and learned with but Lightroom might have been a better option in this case.In my camera bag
Camera's: Nikon D7100, Nikon D3000, Lenses: kit lenses 18-55mm, 70-300mm and a 105mm Nikkor 2.8 Macro lens, remote shutter release and lens cleaning equipment.Feedback
I recommend shooting in raw, use long exposure, meaning a tripod is essential. High fstop number i.e. f22 will aid in the softness but reduces sharpness if that is important to you. Try for unusual angles so your image doesn't look like everyone elses, usually this means making yourself uncomfortable. I.e. almost lying on the ground, getting wet or getting up impossibly high. Think outside the square.
