Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while walking in the woods on my property in Texas in the Fall of 2015. The foliage is starting to disappear and I have the off chance to maybe see a deer or fox as they come up to the feeders along with the local birds.

Time

I took this in the morning hours between 8 and 10. I usually walk the property in the morning as the sun is coming up and in the evenings as the sun goes down as I like the way the sun beams play diagonally across the woods.

Lighting

I love catching the birds facing the Sun so I try and walk from East to West or West to East across my property depending on the morning or evening.

Equipment

I use a Canon Rebel T6i with a75-300mm lens with a Bower MC7 2X Tele-Converter. I try to use this lens most of the time with any of my animal/ bird pictures so I'm not to close to scare them.

Inspiration

I probably take dozens of bird photos in the fall/ winter. This older male cardinal had been following me and finally sat down on the branch in front of me as if to day" Here I Am." Although it was more probably telling me the feeder was empty and I needed to stop what I was doing and go fill it back up.

Editing

I usually run my photos through light room and then move them to Adobe for finishing up the final touches. This picture I actually used adobe photoshophotoshopmobile express and used the carmine filter to show only the red

In my camera bag

As stated earlier I use a Canon Rebel t6i. I have a 75-300mm lens which is my favorite and close 2nd is my Canon 17-45mm lens for the landscape and sunset images. I also keep a Canon 50mm

Feedback

I am a self taught 'Amateur' photographer. As in all aspects of life my advice is: Read everything there is on what you want to do, ask a million questions and get your camera off of automatic and put it on manual. Take a million and one photographs and last; Just have fun.
