This is a photo of the Licking River. I am pretty passionate about water sources. I feel they breathe life into the environment around them. I took this near my hometown of Falmouth, KY. It's a very small town in Northern Kentucky.Time
This was the first light of the day. It was Thanksgiving morning and I normally wake up as early as I can on my off days so I can have time for my nature photography. I have found that the first and last few hours of daylight are the best times for nature photography. Nature just seems to be more alive and the colors are more vibrant at these times.Lighting
I was driving country roads and noticed the sun was just starting to make its entrance for the day while I was crossing a bridge. I would have liked to have a point of view that was closer to the river bank but the brush was just too thick, so I had to settle with taking the photo from the bridge.Equipment
Canon EOS Rebel T2i, Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 lens, Gitzo GT3541L tripod, and a Giotto MH 1302 ballheadInspiration
I am inspired by nature period. I do my best to educate people about their surroundings and the importance of it.Editing
This is a single frame that was processed in Lightroom CC only. Simple adjustments were made.In my camera bag
Canon 7Dii, Canon 5dII, Canon ef 400mm f/5.6, Canon ef 17-40mm f/4, Canon ef 70-200mm f/4, Canon ef 100mm macro f/2.8, extension tube set by Kenco, and various flashes if needed depending on what I am doing.Feedback
Every sunrise and sunset is unique. You may have to make multiple trips to the same location to get your desired effect. Take advantage of the early morning and late evening light. Always use a sturdy tripod for longer exposure shots. Be persistent and never give up. Best of luck to you. :)
