Behind The Lens

Location

I actually took this photo in my mom's bathroom. I looked the way the lighting was set up, and it worked well for my image.

Time

I took this around 2 pm. It was indoors though, so that didn't make a big difference in the lighting.

Lighting

You don't have to have special equipment for lighting. Just be creative with what you have, and take great pictures.

Equipment

I pretty much just used my Canon rebel t5.

Inspiration

I was taking a picture with the theme scary, and I ended up taking some extras, and fell in love with this one when I saw it.

Editing

I did a lot in post. The majority of it was just darkening the shadows and brightening the highlights and her eyes to make a more dramatic look. I also changed it to black and white, but that was pretty obvious, wasn't it?

In my camera bag

To be honest my bag isn't all that impressive. I have my camera, two lenses, one of which is a zoom lens. I have some lens attachments, a wide angled attachment and a fish eye, and then I have a pretty standard tripod that i clip onto my bag, and a ton of SD cards.

Feedback

Look for dramatic lighting. Look for lighting that's going to bring out the features that you want in your subject and then don't be afraid to edit a lot in post production.
