This photo was taken on a business trip to Cape Town, It was taken at Sunset beach in Blouberg Strand in Cape Town South AfricaTime
It was in the late afternoon. I had to spend sometime on the beach waiting for the sun to go down, as it it only goes down very late in Cape Town. The joggers and runner were looking very strangely at me as I sat flat on the ground with my camera. I think the main reason was that they thought I was was an Idiot taking photos while it's light with a flash.Lighting
It was still quite light. I bumped up the shutter speed to get less light in, in order to capture the golden colors of the sunset without the glare of the still shining light. However this caused the front ground to be very dark and not what I was looking for. Thus, I ended up using my flash on the ground in front of the camera to get more light on them.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon D3200, on a tripod, using my 18-55mm kit lens, I used an off camera gun flash for the fore ground.Inspiration
I take alot of nature and sunset photos, and with every photo try something new or to get a better one that the previous one. Still looking for that perfect sunset photo.Editing
Not really much. I basically adjust the sharpness and play a bit with color and contrast. I don't believe in changing the original photo too much.In my camera bag
My Nikon D3200 and my Nikon Coolpix S6300 (Due to size I never go anywhere without this one). Then basically I have three lenses, my 18-55mm, 70-200mm and my 300mm lens. I also always carry my remote, different filters, gun flash and a ring flash, as well as my Macro filters. Would love to add a Macro Lens and a 80-400mm Nikon lens or a 500mm. I was recently given a Canon 7D to use for a limited time with a 18-200mm lens. This one also goes with me about all the time lately. One day would love replacing the D3200 with a Nikon D7200.Feedback
Practice, Practice, Practice and read alot. I still have a lot to learn. But have read alot about settings, lightning and exposure. When I take a specific phot I'm looking for I'll end up taking the same photo over and over using different settings and Scenarios to see how the end result changes. Sometimes you end up get something unexpected by NOT sticking to the rules.
