This photo was taken at Satalite Station Rd just south of Warkworth, NZ. This was acually one of my first astro attempts but still one of my personal favourites today.Time
This was taken between 10-11pm on a partly cloudy, warm summers nightLighting
I'd driven past the road many-a-times and always thought it'd be great for an astro shoot. The conditions are perfect its nice and dark with no city light polution as it's quite rural. Now that i know more I'd love to go back for a big milky way panoEquipment
Shot with a Canon 750D with the standard 18-55mm lens, mounted on a tripodInspiration
I'd driven past this particular road alot and always thought it would be great for an astro shoot, so one night, not long after i first got my camera, i decided id give it a go. Now that i have more knowledge I plan to return when the conditions are right and attempt a milky way panorama over the satalite dishesEditing
very little post-processing (like i said, i was still a newbie) up'd the composition a little and dimmed the brightness and thats about it from memoryIn my camera bag
I always have my one and only camera at the moment the canon 750d,18-55mm standard lens, Canon 10-18mm, Canon 70-300mm, Canon 50mmFeedback
i would say use a wider lens eg a 14mm f/2.8 is usually a good start for beginners, although i have yet to get one myself :(. If you're going to attempt astro-photography make sure you somewhere nice and dark, away from and light pollution and preferably a nice forground usually does the trick. Finally, have fun with it, dont be affraid to try new things, add a person in the shot or have a play with light painting to create an interesting foreground, i find the best shots are when you're just in the moment :)
