The most amazing experience of my life was sleeping at the Sikh temple in Amrister, Punjab. At the temple everything is by donation and there is a ceremony twice a night, once a night to 'put the book to bed' and another one to 'wake the book up'. The sikh religion don't believe deities, they worship the sacred text. Anyone can sleep in the hall and we were the only foreigners. This is 6am, my friend is tired and cold but you can see the joy in her eyes.
