I was very poorly, and my new 50mm lens had arrived, so I wanted to do a test shot, but could barely move, so I set up the mic on my knee, and lined up to show my guitar head in the background, showing my love of music. I instantly loved the result myself. Never really showed anyone else.

Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photograph in my living room. I'm a self taught photographer, who suffers with poor health, and it was taken while I was laid on the sofa, curled up under my duvet, and my new lens had just arrived, so I needed to test it out.Time
This was taken mid morning. I was fortunate that where I lived at the time, had the sun was on that side of the place all of the time, so I had good natural lighting no matter what time of day, unless there were really dark clouds.Lighting
There was plenty of natural lighting to be able to do this shot without any extra help. It was so bright outside, that even with closed curtains, I still got an amazing shot.Equipment
The only equipment used on this shot, was my Nikon D3100 camera, with a 50mm lens. No flash needed.Inspiration
I am a disbabled woman, with health issues that mean sometimes I can't get out of the house. My new 50mm lens had arrived, and I was desperate to try it out, but I was too unwell to go anywhere, so thinking quickly what I had nearby that I could use to shoot instead, I took the Samson condenser microphone that I use for recording vocals at home, rested it on a downward facing mirror balanced on my knee while I was curled up on the sofa, and took the shot so that the guitar which was leaning against the wall already was in the shot too. My love of music and photography all in one shot.Editing
All I had to do was brightening it up a little. It was bright in terms of natural lighting, but it was quite dull, so I used photoshop just to make it seem a little more like a sunny day, rather than overcast, like it was.In my camera bag
I have my Nikon D3100, my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm F/1.8G lens, my Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G lens, and my Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 lens. I always carry at least three 8GB memory cards with me, one in the camera, and 2 in the bag. I always keep the lens hoods close to hand. As I am still building up on my equipment, the only other thing I have so far, is my tripod, which is a Camlink CL-TP2500 Lightweight Aluminium Tripod.Feedback
The only advice I can give on anyone wanting to achieve any shot, not just similar to mine, is to have a play around, and think about what you feel about the shot. When I took it, I knew I loved this shot, and it was one of several takes, but I loved it then, and I still do. I am self taught, I know nothing about technical terms etc, I just know that I know my camera, and I know when I capture something rubbish, and when I capture something great, and this one was something great.
