This bell was on a replica ship built by hand by the Spanish in Spain, an exact copy of a Galleon that Spain had used to circumnavigate the world collection spices and fancy good for the Spanish King and Queen in the 17th century. We arrived at St Augustine, Florida and went for a walk along the docking area and came upon two of these replica ships. This was the bigger of the two, Fontoao, the other was Nao Vittoria. I spent two whole morning photographing the ships and the finer detail that was absolutely awesome. I could have spent a week on each galleon and not photographed all that I wanted to. These ships were spending a resting period at St Augustine, taking a rest after a rough sea trip, on their way, busy taking the same routes the original ships had taken, circumnavigating the world! Such a really interesting experience meeting the sailors and their captains and being in this nostalgic aura of another two different centuries.
