Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Sequim, WA. It was originally nicknamed 'Seven Sisters' Rd but somewhere throughout many decades, acquired the name 'Seven Dips' -

Time

This is one of my favorite images! I took this in mid-summer in the morning, approx. 11 am. I waited patiently on the side of the road for nearly an hour to capture the shot without cars or cyclists ...

Lighting

I wanted the image to appear serene - quite and eerily deserted ... the late morning light was perfect filtering through the big cedars ...

Equipment

My camera was Canon EOS 70D w/EFS 55-250 1200-ISO. I used my mono-pod and no flash.

Inspiration

I've always loved shooting roads, paths, and trails ... This one is one of my favorites! I love how it flows ~

Editing

The only enhancing I did was to deepen the color - also took down the clarity a bit to offer a more dreamy effect ...

In my camera bag

I'm a 'fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants' kinda girl ;-) I usually keep a tripod and mono-pod in my vehicle at all times - along with a variety of lenses and my Yongnuo (digital) Speedlite (YN560-ll). I do carry an ultra light folding camp-stool as well.

Feedback

Honestly? My best advice --- PATIENCE. Just shoot shoot shoot! Mistakes are ALWAYS made - but if you LEARN by the mistakes you make - that's what will grow you into a fine photographer ... Also, take several shots! I've taken as many as 30 shots of the same subject - only to realize that 2 images out of the lot, were worth printing :-)
