Location
This photo was taken in my living room on a black table.Time
I think it was an early afternoon.Lighting
I have used a black raincoat as a backdrop. The main light comes from a series of IKEA led strips that are glued to a shoe box on the right. Additionally my daughter held a torch over the glass pointing down, so that the glass got a good definition against the background.Equipment
I have used a Sony NEX-7 mounted on a cheap tripod. I positioned the camera near the surface of the table. The lens used was the Sony 35/1.8. No additional flash was used.Inspiration
It was a part of a community project I'm taking part in. It's a 365 project, but we are 12 hobby photographers so one has basically 12 days to prepare the next photo. Every month we vote for a monthly theme. This photo was shot at the very beginning, so we haven't had any fixed topic at that time yet.Editing
I did some post processing to remove some of the rain coat's somewhat visible pattern from the background, but nothing extreme. Everything was done in LR in about 5 minutes. In my camera bag
I usually take my Sony NEX-7 with 35/1.8 on it with me, along with a few extra batteries and a spare SD card. Sometimes I throw in my 19/2.8 Sigma lens as well.Feedback
Experiment with what you have at hand. No need for expensive equipment. You can achieve great results with simple tools, like a flashlight and a few IKEA led stripes.
