Location
The photo was taken at a friend's cottage in the Laurentians. The old screen door to the Boathouse.Time
This was taken in early afternoon on an overcast day.Lighting
Taken in a very shaded are where there is hardly any sunlight.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Canon 40D...handheld, ISO 800.Inspiration
I've always loved the look of that door. It was going to be replaced by a newer one and I wanted to capture it before they removed it. I believe my friend's Grand Father built it.Editing
Not too much post processing went into it. Some slight saturation and sharpening adjustments were made.In my camera bag
I usually carry a Canon 7D with a Canon 24-70mm as my go to lens, along with a Canon 70-200 IS and a Canon 24mm wide angle. An old Velbon tripod that has seen better days.Feedback
Picture the image in your mind before shooting. Pick areas and crop what you wouldn't normally do on just a "point and shoot" day. This approach has worked well for me.
