Behind The Lens

Location

Kensington Metro Park in Oakland county Michigan

Time

Early morning 7:30am

Lighting

Natural lighting

Equipment

Nikon D3300 camera, Tamron 150-600mm lens and a Alta pro 264AT tripod with ball head

Inspiration

I was hiking early in the morning and spotted the wood ducks all lined up on the log. The mother duck flew off the log just before this picture was taken.

Editing

Converted from NEF to JPEG then cropped the photo to 8x10

In my camera bag

On the tripod: Nikon D7000 with Tamron 150-600mm Nikon D3300 set up for taking Macro & B&W Nikon COOLPLIX 22X set up for taking video Lenses: Nikon 70-300mm, Nikon 55-200mm, Nikon 18-55mm, Nikon 55mm, Nikon 60mm Macro Teleplus pro 300 1.4X Extra 32GB SD card, VELLO shutter boss, cleaning kit, can of bug spray, water bottle

Feedback

I hike with my D7000 and 150-600mm lens on a tripod plus a full backpack for 3-4 hours 2-3 times a week. Take your time setting up, think about the story you want to tell with your photo. Use a tripod as much a possible, one really good photo is better than 50 not so good photos. I can't give out any advice on the best camera settings to take a photo, I am a point and shoot person auto settings only.
