This photo is one of my very first shots with a new camera. I was so excited to use this newly purchased camera that I went into my backyard and spied this beautiful rose on the rose bush. I just remember that it was an overcast day and I was thrilled with this perfect rose I had found. The air was still and the rose looked like it actually was poised and ready to be photographed. My interest in photography stems from my love of flowers. The rich colors, designs, and petal placements are what tell the story for me! So, I was ecstatic to find this treasure in my very own backyard.Time
Time of day as best I can remember was early morning in November of 2015.Lighting
The day was early and overcast, perfect lighting for the shoot.Equipment
The camera was a DMC- 7S19, aperture f4 180 shutter speed, no tripod early morning.Inspiration
I was a newly retired Social Worker and finally had the time and space to pursue my love and interest in flowers. I didn't know much about photography but thought I could learn things as I went along. On my way to the store to purchase a camera I said a small prayer that I would be able to discern what equipment was appropriate for my level of understanding and also be challenged. I nervously went to the Camera department and immediately saw signs describing the different camera features. I felt overwhelmed and just tried to read the different displays. A stranger, standing next to me (unsolicited I might add) said, "If I was buying a camera today, I would buy this one". I was confused and then realized he was talking to me! He reiterated his comment, that if he were buying a camera today this is the one he would buy! After he left, I examined this camera and decided it was just right for me! I looked all over the store to find and thank him but I never found him. I named this photo Mystical Rose because this might just have been a divine intervention.Editing
Honestly, there wasn't much to do, I cropped it and framed it! Doesn't happen often, but I loved this photo from the start! In my camera bag
This shot is from my early photographing days and I didn't have much equipment yet!Feedback
