Behind The Lens

Location

This image is a combination of two images which I had taken very early on in my photography the balloon was taken at the same time, and was a sister balloon to one that has been featured on ViewBug and the poppies was a chance shot taken whilst driving around the back roads in Kent, United Kingdom

Time

Both were taken months apart but at the same time of day around sunset

Lighting

the lighting of both of the images matched pretty well the down side was they were taken with two different cameras the poppies being with a Sony A100 and the balloon with a Sony A700 just had a vision an inspiration looking at the colour match and literally bolted the images together cutting it to three by two instead of two, two by three images that they were.

Equipment

For the poppies it was a Sony A100 my first DSLR which I brought for £75 with a lens, the second was a Sony A700, no tripods or flashes for both of them just pointed and shot for both the images.

Inspiration

Was just cycling through my images one quite afternoon and though I would have a go at combining these images with very little experience with Photoshop.

Editing

Took two images both in 2x3 bolted the balloon image on top of the poppies and cut the new image 3x2 if I was to do the image again would shake reduce the images and ensue that they are balanced a bit better, but that is the thing with post processing it is all about time and learning and talking to other photographers to get ideas and inspiration.

In my camera bag

Three cameras, Sony a100, a700, a77 Mk1, and a Sony W800 compact. a range of SIGMA, and Sony lenses, best setups which I have at the moment is the a700 with a 55-200 Sony lens, and the A77 Mk 1 with a SIGMA 10-20 with the a100 operating somewhere in between. Both can be mated to a Military Grade Instro Precision Medium Duty Composite Tripod or Composite Trilite Tripod, with a FLIR systems pan and tilt Unit. (A career opportunity came about where I acquired this tripod setup, but is very rarely available on the open market) They are used by everything from Crime & Investigation teams around the world to many of the armed forces around the world as well. you know it is stable when it has been designed to mount systems which view targets 3-5Km away and beyond if required.

Feedback

Just keep taking images at every opportunity these two were taken out of what seemed like 20,000 bad images which I took that year.
