This photo was taken at Salmon Creek Beach, Sonoma Coast State Park, Bodega Bay, CA.Time
It was late afternoon and the sun was sinking in the west, the golden hour. The air was clear without a mist even though at the coastline.Lighting
I took several photos over 30 minutes. The lighting changed as the sun set. Had to check camera settings every few minutes, sometimes for each shot.Equipment
Sony ILEC-3000 Camera with a wide angle lens, mounted on a tripod, f/14, 1/100 sec. exposure, ISO 200.Inspiration
Photography is a recreational hobby of mine. I live in a wonderful area with diverse landscapes including a wild coast. Partly cloudy skies promised a great sunset so I headed to a nearby beach just to wander and find out what happens. Photography was my excuse for a great evening at the beach.Editing
This photo required limited post processing. Reduced the glare of the sun (highlights). Adjusted the hue & saturation to make the colors of the sunset vivid. In my camera bag
Two extra batteries, a telephoto lens, neutral density filter, polarized filter, colored filters, & lens cleaning supplies.Feedback
Went to the Beach to capture sunset photos. Thought that I might capture a horseback rider because they occasionally ride on the beach. Struck up a conversation with the rider & his family. Turned out that riding on the beach was on his "bucket list." He had driven many miles with his cutting horse. After establishing a quick friendship, eventually asked if I might take his photo. He was thrilled to do so. I took many photos. I have portraits of the rider & horse, action shots of him riding on the beach, and finally this one of the pair in front of the sunset.
