Great catch, we have the Heber Creeper here in Utah, It's a nice slow ride up the Provo Canyon.

Beautiful shot! Would love to do this next time your club does the Sumpter train, if open to non-members.

you captured a perfect moment in time... the color, the sharpness catch your eye and make this photo jump off the screen. BRAVO!!!

Location
This Photo was taken in Sumter Oregon. This Train is available to photo groups to rent for a day and they will take up up and down the tracks and stop for photo ops. They do this the entire day and will make sure that every photographer gets the shot they want. This was my favorite out of about 100 shots. Most people waited until the train passed the trees, but I just happened to be in the perfect spot to capture it as it came around the bend and the trees framed it perfect for me.Time
This shot was approximately 11 amLighting
The area is in a canyon, so most shots did not have the sun directly overhead, so a soft light was available for most of the shoot and that allowed the colors to really stand out.Equipment
This was shot using a Sony A77 with a Sony 18-250 Zoom lens, no flash and I handheld the camera.Inspiration
I saw these trees and I was ion a position to catch the train coming around the curve, They started blowing oil to make the smoke just as I was taking the photo.Editing
I used Lightroom to process the photo, but there was very little color changes made, most of just contrast and making small brightness corrections. In my camera bag
Wow, I carry a ton, Sony A77, A99. Lenses included 50-500, 18-250, 24mm Prime, 10-20, 85mm Prime, 100mm Prime, 50mm Prime, 70-300, 2 Sony Flashes, 1 Polaroid flash, Mini Tripod. Numerous SD Cards. That's my standard bag......Feedback
The spot is used all the time, but most photographers hug the rail line to get a photo of the train near head on as the train passes through the trees. To get this shot, move away from the tracks so you can actually see the curve in the tracks and shoot portrait, not landscape.
