Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my barn at home. I'm from the Pittsburgh PA area. This was for a college assignment for my portrait photography class.

Time

This photo was taken mid afternoon after I was out taking pictures all morning, and wondered back home.

Lighting

The lighting was created by the open barn door. I did not move Oscar in anyway, so the lighting is all on him!

Equipment

This photo was taken with my Cannon EOS Rebel SL1 camera, and the kit lenses that comes with it. I had no tripod and the lighting is all natural.

Inspiration

Oscar always follows me around meowing when he sees my camera. I take pictures of him constantly. He sits very still and even poses himself. I had walked into the barn to get pictures of my horses, and turned around because he was meowing. He was sat perfectly for my portrait photography assignment so I seized the moment.

Editing

I never edit my photos too much. The only thing I did was up the contrast and saturation the slightest bit. I believe I did about +15 for both.

In my camera bag

I normally have my Cannon Rebel, the kit lenses (yes, I know I need more lenses), a tripod, and my Phantom 3 drone.

Feedback

If you see something that might be picture worthy with an animal, don't hesitate because you might miss a great shot. With all of my photos I think that natural lighting and little editing is always the best option.
