Location
I was taking my dog, who can be seen in shot if observed carefully, for a walk along the canal in my village in Staffordshire, Uk. I walked under the bridge and saw the beautiful scene displayed in front of me.Time
I captured the image in the early afternoon, around 2pm, as that is the usual time I take my dog out.Lighting
The lighting is all natural and the cover from the trees on both sides allowed for the light to come straight down from the gap in the middle, be reflected off of the water and then softly illuminate the underside of the trees, providing a great reflection.Equipment
I never left the house with the intention to do photography and the only camera I had to hand was the one on my Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone. I saw the opportunity and did the best I could with what I had.Inspiration
The scene was an obvious picture without even needing to look through a lense. The beautiful autumnal colours, the still canal providing a different perspective through reflection and the lovely curve of the bank. Even with just my smartphone, I had to take the shot.Editing
My smartphone didn't quite do the colours of the scene justice as the came out more dull than it actually was. Using a post-processing app on my phone I was able to accurately bring out the colours once more.In my camera bag
Being a student with very little money, I am currently limited to my Pentax KS-2 with an 18-55mm lense and my smartphone.Feedback
You can't carry a camera with you everywhere you go, but most of us nowadays have a smartphone. Don't be afraid to use your phone if an unexpected opportunity arises. You can still capture great shots!
