Brown's Tract Inlet, Adirondacks, NY. So slowly does it move that it might be standing water. It comes from distant ponds and lakes, and filters down to Raquette Lake, behind me, in this deep channel through flat terrain. But what looks like solid ground out here, is not. The whole of it is wet, soaked, impassable. I watch for a while on a lazy afternoon, a river of thoughts coming at me in a long, curving S. In time, I am saturated.
