The story behind this shot:
'Speckle' is one of those shots you get every millionths attempt. Captured at Dee Why - Australia on an early morning swim. Nothing beats the sun rising over the horizon and lighting up a wave from behind like it does in this shot. It’s a moment that might just last for a fraction of a second. Add a surfer pumping his way through the wave and a droplet of water on the lens port on the underwater housing refracting the light and you get: Speckle. Not sure if I will ever got a shot like this again… I guess that’s the beauty if it all.
Captured with the Olympus E-M1 and M.Zuiko 12-40mm f-2.8 PRO inside the PT-EP11 housing. The E-M1’s focussing capabilities surprise time and time again! This is a particularly difficult shot for a camera. moment before the direct sunlight was hitting the sensor and add a load of movement in multiple directions to the scene and yet the camera seemed to know what I wanted to focus on, tracked the surfer and shot a perfect burst of images. What more could I have asked for?
