Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken couple of years ago in Berlin/Germany in apartment of my friend. Sleeping room of this apartment has nice south view window.

Time

There was around noon, when we set up photo session. I didn't keep in my mind exact hour, but as far i can remind it myself, it was in between 11.00 AM and 1.00 PM.

Lighting

Yeah, south window is the best one light source, when you want to shoot with use of available natural light with no use of flash - or stale lights ! I used just one simply light modifier - silver reflector, to get more light over face and body of my Model.

Equipment

This picture was taken by Pentax K7 with 28-75 Tamron zoom lens. F 2,0 aperture and 1/160 sec. was set up and -5 exposure correction due to strong light and dimmed background. No tripod. Silver round reflector helped to get even light over body and face of Model.

Inspiration

My Model, Nadine and her natural beauty was one and only inspiration. Her beautiful body and innate grace and also hers intuitive posing gave me inspiration to shoot this picture.

Editing

I use to make postprocessing of my pictures in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. This picture was then developed in Lightroom with necessary corrections of crop, light and contrast, then finally postprocesed in Photoshop for detailed corrections of skin and for final web publishing.

In my camera bag

Lately i sold out all digital cameras and gear i used before. Medium film cameras are only i use last few years. In my bag the base (except the camera body) are 80 and 150 mm medium format lenses and heavy tripod + trigger hose. For portraits white, or silver reflector is necessary.

Feedback

To make portrait in similar style, you need to find the room with south view, then set up photo session in a sunny day. All the rest is in your hands! Make an appointment with a Model and do it!
