This photo was taken earlier this year in the Shenandoah mountains in Virginia. It was a rainy day and despite the tree cover, it was hard to set up a shot and remain dry. There was a large tree that had fallen in the foreground which helped frame the shot and add a foreground element. The overcast sky and rainfall helped bring the colors to life. I would like to venture back to this location when the leaves turn to fall colors.
