Ijen is an active though reasonably stable volcano in East Java, Indonesia. Miners work all day carrying 60-80kgs of sulphur on their back, surrounded by clouds of toxic hydrogen sulphide, out of the crater. A documentary was made a few years ago called "Where heaven meets hell" about these men. I can see why it was called that.
