Location
This photo was taken on a trip with Wild Alaska Travel for my 50th Birthday in August 2015 , We started at Fairbanks and drove the Dolton Hwy stopping at Historic Wiseman , The Artic Circle, all the way to Dead Horse and wita short Plane hop to Bata Island Kaktovic. On a Private Boat Tour with a Native Inupiat Eskimo Guide. A Trip of a life TimeTime
It was a very sunny day cruising the tranquil waters around Bata Island, the wind had a freezing chill and your feet were so numb with coldness that they hurt. In the late afternoon the fog came rolling in covering every thing in its path like a giant soft cloud, but the sight of these majestic animals made you feel warm and excited as the fog slowly cleared.Lighting
The lighting just 5 minutes before was so bright and sunny but the fog came rolling in so quickly from the distance that you were in a haze almost immediately, you could not see any further than your hand in front of your face , But as the fog slowly cleared you were treated to a amazing magical mystical world that past almost as quick as it came.Equipment
This was taken with a Nikon D750 with the Sigma 150 - 600 Sports lens on a Mono pod.Inspiration
The foggy setting and the polar bears in there natural habitat was so breath taking and inspiring.Editing
I am a amateur photographer with limited experience in editing. Who has been very fortunate to have experienced some exciting places where it is impossible to not get a great shot. This photo has Just been cropped and had the exposure slightly edited in light room.In my camera bag
I normally have my 14-24 wide angle nikon lens , 24-120 Nikon on My D750 and my flash, 2 spare batteries and 8 spare SD cards and a air blower and lens cloth are essential . Just the basic really nothing really specialFeedback
As a amateur the best advice I can give is take the opportunity when it arises as you will always surprise your self when you look back at the images. just give it a go.
