Location
This photo was taken from Bloubergstrand on the opposite side of Cape Town, South Africa. I am an professional photographer and Landscape Photography is my hobby.Time
I remember that there were a heavy storm and as usual my thought was to go down to the beach in the case of maybe photographing something special. The clouds played "hide and seek" with the mountain and just at the right time a wave came rolling towards me and the sun burst through the high layer of cloud to light up the lower clouds during the golden hour before sunset.Lighting
I like to take landscapes using natural light. in this case I used an ND 4.Equipment
This image was shot with a 5DmarkII with an 24-105mm f4/L/IS on 24mm. A tripod was also used.Inspiration
I used to live near Bloubergstrand - this area was my photo playground an I love photography and nature and its ever changing aspects of light and color. It gives me the greatest pleasure to share my photos.Editing
I usually don't do a lot of processing on my landscape photos as I prefer to keep it as natural as possible - it takes to much time to edit an image. I mostly just remove all the dirt, straighten the horizon and saturate the sky a bit.In my camera bag
My camera of course and a shutter release as I like photographing in any condition; two lenses : a 24-105mm as well as a 16-35mm; Canon flashFeedback
The weather changes drastically here in the Cape of Storms so always carry a steady tripod and also a shutter release as the wind usually blows and you need to keep an eye on the scene for all aspects to perfectly align. Sometimes a waterproof bag for your camera is also necessarily. One also needs patience to take a picture like this and remember to clean the sea salt from your camera when getting home.
