Location
This photo was taken in Waupaca, Wisconsin. This chapel is nestled in the woods, there is a bridge that crosses over a lake. My husband and I were planning to get married in this chapel. However, some family members were unable to walk the distance from the parking lot to the chapel. My passion with photography is outdoor photography, especially old barns.Time
This is one of my favorite photographs. I woke up one morning and decided to grab the camera, equipment and hit the road and see what I could find on this beautiful autumn day. I ended up in Waupaca, Wisconsin on an autumn afternoon. I started walking through the woods and found this chapel. I took this photograph on an October afternoon at 1:39 pm.Lighting
I wanted this image to look natural, so the autumn afternoon lighting was perfect. I took several photos of this chapel from different angles, sides of the chapel, trying to capture the uniqueness of this scene. Eventually I found the angle and position to photograph this chapel with the most natural lighting.Equipment
This photograph was taken with a Canon EOS 60D camera, I used 2:47 aperture, 0:21 shutter speed and03.:31 ISO. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I was searching a unique autumn setting to photograph. I found this chapel in the middle of the woods with no parking lot or any buildings near by. I thought this scene was very unique. The tranquility and simplicity of this location seemed like a perfect place to take photographs.Editing
Post-processing I eliminated some of the shadows. That is the only post-processing that I did with this photograph. In my camera bag
My camera bag always has my Canon EOS 60D, Promaster wide angle .7x, Kenko lens 75-300 mm, Canon 18-55 mm lens, Tamron 150 - 600 mm lens, and a tie pin that I gave my dad as a Father's day gift when I was a child.Feedback
Lighting changes rapidly, I learned that setting up earlier than I planned helped capture the same photograph with so many different images. Knowing the location helps somewhat but is not necessary. Be creative, if the photo doesn't turn out the way you hoped you can simply delete the photo. I take nearly 30 photos of the exact same image, changing my settings on the camera to get 1 photograph that is what I had hoped for. Taking photos and looking at them on your computer, especially the ones you are disappointed with, is very educational. When I did this and reviewed my settings used with each photograph, I learned what I needed to change and the rationale of the required change. Have fun with your photography, when you're relaxed and in the moment your creativity soars!!!
