Location
In my outdoor home studio, set up with beach sand, natural lighting and just a few shots!Time
Here in Florida, there's almost always good lighting! This day was no exception and I was lucky enough to have perfect mid morning light with just the right amount of shade.Lighting
Natural lighting is my favorite, indoor or out I always look for and take advantage of any light source available.Equipment
For this shot I used a Canon Rebel, no flash or tripod and just my standard 55mm lens, set on macro.Inspiration
I live by the beach so I have a lot opportunity for shooting shells and things found on my beach walks. My love of sea shells takes me there often and I love finding something new and different.Editing
I did make this a black and white print during post processing and a touch of sharpening to bring out even more of the grooves of the shell. In my camera bag
On a shoot, I take my standard lens and 300 zoom lens, tripod and mono pod. Basic equipment helps me stay focused on taking the best shots with what I own.Feedback
Patience with lighting, using the right lens to get the best shot and the look you want to achieve. Use angles, don't be afraid to look a little silly laying on the sidewalk, sand, draped over rocks, etc., to get the perfect amount of light and focus. Keep it simple!
