Behind The Lens

Location

In my home studio.

Time

Mid day about 3:00ish

Lighting

This was a simple natural light set up. Window to my left and a large Round Savage white reflector.

Equipment

I was using my go to equipment combaniation. canon 6D and Canon 50mm lens.

Inspiration

This was a few weeks after a massive surgery. I was starting to feel pretty bummed about my lack of mobility and it was affecting me mentally. My little girl suggested that we head into the studio and take pictures of her missing teeth. I was only able to tolerate snapping off a few images but it was well worth it in the end.

Editing

While a lot of people think I edited her eyes this intense they are her natural colour. I didn't light hand edits and changed the background colour from grey to purple and added a vignette.

In my camera bag

Canon 6D, 50mm, 24-105mm, lip balm and candy. Gotta love me some candy!

Feedback

If you want to try something along this lines all you need is a backdrop pulled tight, white reflector to one side and nice diffused window light. Add the quirky kid and you can get some beautiful head shots. The sky is the limit for anything like this.
