I was backpacking solo around South America when I started to get more interested in photography, of which I started teaching myself along the way. My brother was so kind to give me an old camera of his. I was travelling through Argentina and into Brazil when i stopped at the breathtaking waterfalls of Iguazu. You can visit the falls from both sides which each provide their own absolutely stunning views. Crossing to the Brazilian side walking through the park I came out at the right time and saw this beautiful scene, i was gobsmacked at the beauty. This shot doesnt even cover it, but it was as close as i could come to capturing the pure beauty.Time
Mid-afternoon, after the warm midday sunLighting
You can visit the falls from both sides which each provide their own absolutely stunning views. Once I had crossed to the Brazilian side walking through the park I came out at the right time and saw this beautiful scene, I was gobsmacked at the beauty. This shot doesn't even cover it, but it was as close as i could come to capturing the pure beauty. Taking this shot in the early afternoon allowed the perfect lighting conditions that I could have asked for.Equipment
On this occasion all I used was my canon point and shoot camera, no extra crazy lenses nor trip-pods, i was caught short for equipment. This time, however it didn't matter, the scenery did all the work for me, I just had to shoot it!Inspiration
The pure beauty of this scene, I couldnt not try and capture it!Editing
I made some slight light adjustments but very little post-processing.In my camera bag
Normally I always carry a 50mm f2.8 lens and have a zoom attached to my camera.Feedback
The Iguazu falls lie in both Argentina and Brazil. Along my travels everyone had raved about the Argentinian side; at they were right, so stunningly beautiful and so full of life, it was glorious to see. Many had said its not worth it to go to both sides and the Argentinian side is arguably more popular, but I wanted to see for myself. I was so glad I went with my gut! Although smaller on the Brazilian side, you´re closer to the action and had i not followed my gut I wouldn't have got this amazing shot, that still to this day almost a decade later, I still love. My advice is, make your own decision about things, what you find beautiful and interesting are unique to you, don't follow the others to get what you´re after, go after it and see for yourself!
