Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken off of Clearwater beach in Florida at sunset.

Time

This shop was taken at sunset as we were coming back from a dolphin cruise. The pirate ship provides tours of the mansions on Tampa Bay before heading into the Gulf of Mexico for dolphin watching. We were joined almost immediately by a pod of 7 dolphin. They playfully jumped out of the water and surfed on our boat's wake.

Lighting

For this photo all the lighting was natural. I don't think I could add anything that would have made it better from a lighting perspective.

Equipment

It was shot handheld on a Nikon D40x.

Inspiration

I'm always looking for moments of beauty in the world. When I saw the Pirate ship silhouette against the setting sun, I knew that I had to capture that moment.

Editing

No.

In my camera bag

I just got a Nikon D3300 with an 18-55 and 70-300 lenses. I also have a macro and 2x attachments, various filters, a cleaning kit and Tripod (technically on the bag not in the bag).

Feedback

Keep you eyes open and look for the beauty. I usually start taking photos 30-45 minutes before sunset. As the sun goes down the sky changes color. I take several pictures at each stage.
