Behind The Lens

Location

I actually stepped outside my front door and onto my lawn. The house faces north.

Time

I believe this was around 7 in the evening before daylight savings.

Lighting

The lighting for this was all natural, to be quite honest I was playing around with the settings and came up with this. It's hard sometimes when 75% of your natural lighting is gone.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS Rebel T3, and I used the standard lens, a 55mm. This was probably one I took without the flash.

Inspiration

I have always loved the color that they sky becomes when the sun sets out here. I always come look at the last rays of sunshine and think, gee I really need to get a shot of that. I'm always inspired by the constantly changing colors in nature. It never ceases to comfort me. Most of my artwork is nature inspired.

Editing

To be honest I can't quite remember, it being so long ago. Photoshop is usually my go to, has been for years, but if I remember correctly I only adjusted the lighting on this one. All adjustments we're done before the shot was taken.

In my camera bag

My Rebel T3, with two lenses,18-55mm .25 and a 75-300mm1.5. I don't normally carry a tripod, I do carry a basic cleaning kit. I also carry extra memory and a battery charger.

Feedback

If you what you are doing this could be easy, but if you're like me and you just do whatever then I'd say adjust the lighting before hand that way you will have less to do while post processing. In this this particular photo I just adjusted the temperature and the lighting. I'm not a pro but I can do the basics, if it's good enough for nature it's good enough for me.
