Behind The Lens

Location

The photograph was taken in Oia, on the island of Santorini, Greece.

Time

I took it after the sunset, during the dusk.

Lighting

I had a idea to combine both the sunset and the lights from the streets in one photo but that is not the easiest, my solutions was to use HDR. I strived after a calm and warm scenery and got what i came for.

Equipment

I used a Canon 600D with a Canon 24-70 f/4L and a manfrotto tripod equip with a ball head. I also used Magic Lantern.

Inspiration

When i looked at other photos from santorini i saw a photo that i wanted to wanted to see if i could do it myself but in my own way.

Editing

Using HDR i took 3 photos, i merged them together as one and evened out the light over the whole image, after that i corrected the colors to give me a warmer and brought in more color to get it more similar to that little extra.

In my camera bag

the benefits of having few lenses is that you can pack in everything you have, you never know what will photos you will have taken at the end of the day. In my backpack i always take with me is my trusty 600D, it has a great potential for the most but lacks at certain situations. The work horse of my lenses is my 24-70 f/4L, the only one with zoom and autofocus it gets a the most done. If i wanna shot night photography or wide angle i have my 14mm f/2.8 from samyang. For portraits i have my Samyang 50mm f/1.4.

Feedback

Try different angles while scouting the area before, when you think you have a good spot, be there atleast 1h or 1h 30 min before because there is a lot of people and it will be difficult to find a good spot if your too late.
