This photo was taken at my parents house on their back deck. It is one of my most clear sunset pictures I have taken, because of the trees being bare. Normally throughout most of the year I cannot get this clear of a picture from the deck as the trees are usually full of leaves, blocking any view.Time
This picture is one of my favorite sunsets I have taken. This was also one of my first and most clear sunsets I have been able to capture. I remember I had finished dinner and was so excited to see how colorful the sky was. It took me several shots before I was able to get one that was not blurry or one that you could see the colors beautifully on. It was taken April 29, 2009.Lighting
I wanted this picture to really capture the colors of the sunset. The camera I was using at the time had a 'Sunset' setting which seemed to help bring the colors forward instead of dulling them the way my other camera does.Equipment
This was take on a GE C1440W 14.14 MP camera with a 4 x zoom lens - 4.9 - 19.6 mm - f/3.0-6.6 with no other equipment.Inspiration
Sunsets are something I have always loved to see. To see the colors shift and change has always caught my attention. Shortly after I got my camera, and saw the sunset mode, I wanted to see if I could capture the colors of a sunset.Editing
The only post-processing I used was to crop the picture and to slightly bright and change the contrast. I cropped out all of the unwanted scenery, such as trees and black spots from hills, making sure to leave the majority of the sunset alone. I then chose to brighten the picture just a hair and use the contrast to further deepen the colors and really bring them out in the picture. In my camera bag
I don't actually have any equipment! I only use two cameras. Most of the time I have at least one camera on me where ever I go. I have used a tripod before but do not carry it with me. I only tend to use the tripod for shots where I need to be absolutely still to get a clear picture, for when I have to zoom really far to capture something.Feedback
I have learned to always keep my camera on me. For sunsets, I never know how the colors will be. (If they will be dull or vibrant) I try to make sure that no matter where I am I have a clear shot of the sky. Both high and low so I can keep taking pictures no matter how low it gets. Having trees around helps if I want to have another subject in the picture as well. A steady hand helps to keep a clear shot. So try and have a tripod or something to support you while you are clicking away. I've noticed, for me at least, that the sun makes it very hard to get a clear picture. The rays of the sun tend to light up the surrounding area making it harder to see the clouds and colors of the sunset clearly.
