Location
Gubei Water Town sits at the bottom of Simatai, an un-restored portion of the Great Wall. The Water Town is a replica town, but still quite beautiful.Time
I had mistakenly spent the night before in a backpacker hotel with few amenities and so once dawn came, I wolfed down some farm congee, and woke up the taxi driver who lived across the freeway to drive me up to Simatai where there are boutique and . I then immediately got up on the wall about 10am, then after a few hours of hiking the length allowed civilians, I wandered back down to Water Town to take pictures before the lunch hour became too populated with tour groups.Lighting
This was a rare blue sky and sunny day, so I was not prepared for the glareEquipment
