Location
In my old apartment in Maastricht, the Netherlands.Time
Can't remember, but would have been late at night/early hours of the morning! It's how we (myself and my girlfriend at the time) worked. Normally a sudden decision to shoot whenever the time took our fancy. And as we were both night owls, that's generally when the 'magic' happened.Lighting
Yes! I shone a torch wrapped in toilet paper in her face to make it he centre of attention. I also had a soft box with a (continuous) led video light inside, set very low. Kind of slight camera right I seem to remember.Equipment
Trusty 5d2 + 70-200 2.8 is, Apollo orb soft box, some old slightly broken continuous video light- don't know the brand, a torch and some toilet roll (I also don't remember the brand!), hot as hell girlfriend.Inspiration
Just her. She is (was) very very inspiring for me.Editing
Yes! Bit of dodge and burn!In my camera bag
Canon 5d2 + 70-200 2.8 is L Canon 7d + 16- 35 2.8 L 100 2.8 L macro just hanging around, waiting for the opportune time to be used.Feedback
Just try it and see what works! You don't need the best of everything, really all you need is light, and more importantly control of it. Anything can be your light source.. Anything. Literally. You just have to understand where to put it, and why you're putting it there. And editing afterwards, once again is only really about light. Dodging and burning, picking out the features that you want picked out. Compositionally, I used the technique of framing by putting the subject matter (her face, eyes) inside a frame (her hair), by using light.
