At that time I was using a Canon 7D digital camera. the lens was a Sigma 150 - 500 mm the tripod was a Manfrotto 055Inspiration

In the camera bag depends upon the transport and location. I often carry a Canon 300 2.8 IS with a 1.4 extension. I still use a Manfrotto tripod. Sometimes a monopod will do for a hike. I also have a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS which I use with a Canon 2 times converter. Alternately I may carry a Canon 75 - 300 5.6 to reduce weight. A lighter Canon 18 - 200 is useful as well. A Canon 100mm macro and Canon 24 - 105 f4 may be close.Feedback
Since that image was composed I have purchaise a Canon 100 - 400 lens which is quick and responsive. Fast sharp lenses are most useful. I have also acquired the Canon 7D Mark 2. a fast lens and quick recording works well for capturing these birds.
