My garden includes lots of milkweed and nectar plants to attract monarch butterflies. This female had just emerged from her chrysalis about 2 hours before this photo was taken. She was sitting quietly on a zinnia, waiting for her wings to dry enough to fly, making her a very cooperative subject for macro photography.
