Corvo island | Azores | Portugal
The island formed from a 5 km diameter central volcano (Monte Gorde) that emerged around 730,000 years ago, whose central cone was approximately 1000 meters in altitude. The crater collapsed 430,000 years ago during a Plinian eruption, forming a subsidence caldera (2000 meters in diameter and 300 metres depth), referred to as the Caldeirão.
One of the most amazing places I 've ever been.
If you have time go down to the lakes, about half an hour walking down and 1 hour walking up.
Down there, relax, enjoy the peace and you can listen the silence...
