St Hilda of the Wood 1a

St Hilda of the Wood, This is the church in a small settlement called Ngamatapouri, which is inland Taranaki Region, North Island, New Zealand. The land in this area was used by the Government of the day for returning soldiers from World War One to be rehabilitated into farming, unfortunately the land was not suited to farming and the great depression was the nail in the coffin for most families who just walked off their farms with nothing.
The area is an amazing time capsule of history with old farm buildings, hydro power schemes and acres of untouched native forest it has both a peaceful and yet haunted feel to the place.
